As a photographer visiting Budapest for the first time, I was immediately drawn to the many beautiful bridges that span the river Danube. Over the course of my week long stay, I discovered that there are many great vantage points to choose from with plenty of city light for both AM and PM blue hour.

Chain Bridge—which you can see pictured here—looks equally beautiful from both sides of the river but if you shoot it from the West side (The Buda Side), you can also frame the impressive Hungarian Parliament building.

Technical Mumbo Jumbo

Using some basic luminance masking techniques, 2 exposures were blended together in Adobe Photoshop. The base (6 second) exposure makes up the majority of the scene while the additional (3 second) exposure adds the details in the extreme highlights. Color correction and detail enhancement was applied using a combination of filters from Google Nik Color Efex Pro and Photoshop adjustment layers. Sharpening is applied using a High Pass Filter.

Many cups of coffee were sacrificed in the making of this photo. 🙂
